My specialties

My goal is to offer you support for psychological suffering related to these two themes:

Anxiety disorders :
  • Generalized anxiety
  • Panic disorder (panic attacks)

Anxiety is a "psychological state of painful worry and nervous tension, caused by uncertainty, waiting, or insecurity". It is a completely normal phenomenon, which exists in response to an anxiety-provoking situation that should be avoided. It is also a good thing that our brain is capable of creating a state of anxiety, because it allows us to protect ourselves (by forcing us to avoid dangerous situations, for example).

However, sometimes the anxiety management system becomes "dysregulated", leading to several consequences:

  • Anxiety appears spontaneously, without any real threat.
  • Anxiety appears frequently, up to several times a day.
  • These previous situations settle in over time (several months).

We then speak of anxiety disorder. These anxiety disorders can take different forms, including generalized anxiety and panic disorder.

Generalized anxiety

This corresponds to being in a state of anxiety that is almost constant, and having reactions that are disproportionate to the situation. We also talk about "catastrophic scenario" disorder, when we tend to imagine the worst in upcoming events.

Panic disorder

This corresponds to regularly experiencing intense and unpredictable panic attacks (also called panic attacks). Moreover, we tend to fear that these panic attacks will occur, and to try to avoid their appearance as much as possible.

Eating disorders :
  • Binge eating (binge episodes)
  • Bulimia

Eating disorders lead to "abnormal" eating practices, associated with significant psychological suffering. Among these practices, we generally find forms of deprivation (severely restricting oneself from consuming food, compared to normal) and/or forms of excess (consuming a too large quantity of food, compared to normal).

Binge eating disorders (binge episodes) are characterized by:

  • Episodes during which one compulsively ingests a large amount of food, often without taking the time to cook.
  • Very frequent thoughts about food (about what one wants to consume, but also restriction thoughts).
  • Weight variation, and significant preoccupation with weight and body image.
  • Increase in negative emotions, anxiety, isolation, general psychological suffering.

We speak of bulimia when binge eating is followed by "inappropriate" compensatory behaviors, such as self-induced vomiting, taking laxative medications, etc.

My approach is based on scientific research, meaning we will evaluate your situation and provide solutions to your problems using scientifically proven effective tools.
